During my time at the University of Georgia, I have completed various group projects and individual assignments ranging from literature reviews, policy memos, and needs assessments for a local community. Below you can find samples of some of my favorite projects during my time at the University of Georgia.

Literature Review: Prenatal Care Access in the United States

For HPRB5410W, we had the task of conducting and writing a literature review about a public health topic that was of interest to us. I decided to write about barriers to accessing prenatal care in the United States, as women’s health is a topic I enjoy studying. We were required to use 10-15 original and peer-reviewed sources in our results section.

Community Assessment: IPV and Bipolar in Athens, GA

For HPRB3700, Community Health, we were broken up into groups of four and assigned a case with health issues impacting residents in Athens, Georgia. Our group was given a case of a woman who had been dealing with Bipolar Depression for a majority of her life and she eventually married a man who began to physically and emotionally abuse her. For this assessment we had to identify her needs, identify resources available to our subject, services in Athens to assist her, and ways for her to access said services.

Literature Review: Sleep Disparities in African Americans in the United States

For HPRB5010, our main semester-long project was to write a literature review about a public health topic of our choosing that took place within the United States. I wanted to explore a new topic and sleep and sleep disparities had always been on the front of my mind. We had to use 20 peer-reviewed and original sources to make up our results section and the paper had a 15-20 page length requirement.

Policy Brief: Equity in Alzheimer’s Research

For my GRNT3400E course, which is titled Cognition and the Aging Brain, our final project was to pick a cognitive issue we had a special interest in and write a policy brief explaining why we believed it deserved funding from our national government. I decided to focus on the ENACT Act and why it should be reintroduced to the House of Representative’s. The ENACT Act advocates for participation of underrepresented and marginalized communities in Alzheimer’s research.

Health Brochure: The Menstrual Cycle

For HPRB5410W, we had to create a health educational pamphlet or brochure to inform a specific audience of our choosing about a relevant health topic. I decided to focus on the menstrual cycle, as women’s health is a topic that is of interest to me. My target audience was young women ages 12-18 who wanted to learn more about the menstrual cycle or who had not yet begun their menstrual cycle.

Survey Design: Fit Check

For HPRB5010, we had the opportunity to break into groups and create our own survey to distribute to fellow students about any topic of our choosing. With free reign, we decided to select a fun topic and ask students about how college has influenced their personal style and clothing choices. We collected data from 74 respondents and analyzed their answers into several different categories and presented our findings to our class.
